The Troubadour

PERFORMING AT THE TROUBADOUR

If you would like to play at The Troubadour, welcome demos from live bands and solo artists. Please read the following guidelines in order for you to have the best chance at having your demo listened to:

WHAT TO SEND:

Please send a link to your website, myspace page or an mp3. Please do not send anything in the post. If you do there is a good chance of it being sidelined and forgotten.

WHERE TO SEND:

Please contact John Televera via email john@troubadour.co.uk or by phone on 0207 370 1434.

IF YOU DON’T HEAR FROM US:

As you can appreciate, we get a huge amount of demos and it will take a while to listen to all of them. If you have been successful we will get in touch with you - but unfortunately we are unable to provide individual feedback in all cases!

WHAT WE PROMOTE:

We book a huge range of artists and music. It’s hard to pin down exactly what our criteria is. Suffice to say, if we think it sounds good, original and interesting, we’ll book it. We promote the arts of songwriting and musicianship. We don’t go for cover bands or backing tracks. We welcome full bands but are NOT a heavy rock venue, so if your band falls into that genre or is very loud, it is not worth sending your demo in.

THE TROUBADOUR SESSIONS:

If accepted for a gig, you would probably come and play the Wednesday Sessions initially. This is unpaid but we give all musicians dinner and a drink. Please bear in mind that a proviso of playing is that you bring at least 15 people to your gig. Note that if you don’t bring a decent number of people to see you, we are unlikely to re-book you! We book four or five acts for The Sessions – a combination of acoustic artists and full bands. Each act performs six songs (or a 25 minute set). We usually book at least two months in advance.

OTHER NIGHTS AT THE TROUBADOUR:

Alternatively, we may book you for other nights of the week, for which you need to guarantee bringing at least 25 people. For this you receive a 50% share of the door money, of those that come to see you, after the first £30. Most acts play the Wednesday Sessions first.

PROMOTION:

We promote all gigs on our website, mailing list and all relevant London listings. You will of course be expected to promote your gig through your own networks as much as possible. We do not provide discounted flyers.

CLUB INFO

The club audience capacity is 120. Opening hours are 8pm till midnight Sunday to Wednesday and 8pm till 2am Thursdays to Saturdays. Sound checks are usually from 6pm. We receive a huge amount of demos so if you do submit yours please give us 3-4 weeks before contacting us.
