Andrew Morris Band + Patrizio Knight Band + Gary Stewart + Matthew Bee + Odi
January 30th, 2008
Event / Performance Info
ANDREW MORRIS is a singer songwriter who
stands out from the crowd. When he's not in
the courtroom as a criminal lawyer, he's crafting
amazingly addictive acoustic-rock tunes, which
have culminated in his mini-album, Upside Down.
His antipodean roots (he was born in Australia
and has lived in places as varied as Saudi Arabia,
Oman, Brunei, Malaysia and Fiji) shine through,
with the type of light summery sound that you
usually won't find emanating from Surbiton.
PATRIZIO KNIGHT Having grown up between Italy and England and seeing many strange things, the songs tell stories in a quintessential english manner. He is helped by his comrades, Kirsty Sutton, Richard Nicholas and Matt Carroll which collectively make the Patrizio Knight Band
GARY STEWART BAND Scottish songsmith Gary Stewart along with his talented band is one of the rising stars of the vibrant UK "nu-folk" scene. He has already been compared to singer/songwriters such as Paul Simon, James Taylor and John Martyn, to more contemporary artists' like The Dave Matthews Band, King Creosote, Ray LaMontagne and the Shins. Brillant live.
ODI "Ballsy folk from Leeds with a Damien Rice intensity and lilting Irish female vocals, that can without warning spin off into PJ Harvey territory, fresh from support to Seth Lakeman. Check out brilliant new single "What You Deserve" out 1st Feb 2008
MATTHEW BEE Stuck somewhere between the old and the new Matt Bee creates a intense yet subtle approach to his songwriting craft. Never hiding behind a well trodden formula of the acoustic brigade of the last few years but breathing fresh life into the bones of such a storytelling format as the
folk style is known for.
''Singer-songwriter Matthew Bee knows there's
more to being a good acoustic act than just
strumming and singing. He uses the full range
of his voice and guitar in a variety of styles
across some excellent, diverse songs''.
