A recent email from Tim Berry of the band 'Oh, Dreamland':
"Having moved to West London, from Bournemouth - where I started writing and performing solo and eventually developed the band by 'borrowing' musicians from local acts I liked - I began booking Oh Dreamland into a gigs with a selection of London-based promoters. However, despite playing some great gigs at venues like The Slaughtered Lamb with the excellent Electroacoustic Club and the 12 Bar Club with antifolk champions Blang!, I have found it difficult to find gigs with promoters who have a similar enthusiasm for the music they put on and have found that venues where artists don't invite their extended family, work colleagues and long-lost primary school friends from their Facebook profile to watch them play Paolo Nutini covers, only for them to talk over every other act on the bill, are surprisingly few and far between.
The Troubadour, however, is a venue that makes me feel differently about it all. It's well run. The venue encourages new music. People turn up to listen to the music. Bands and artists appear to be booked to compliment whoever else is playing that night and not based on the number of people they can bring. And the food is great. I've had a great time watching bands play at the Troubadour and I'd love the opportunity to have people enjoy watching us there too. "
