Troubadour Wine Shop, Bar & Tastings

'One of our very first reviews of The Troubadour Wine Shop:

I went to see Susie Thornhill at the Troubadour last night and instead of their deli they have opened a wine shop. What is so special about this wine shop over and above others is the guy who is running it, Atilio (I think), has sourced wines from all over the world but the Troubadour is the sole importer - the prices range from about £5 to anything you may want to pay and the champagne is DELICIOUS very light and far too drinkable.- I do think for those interested in wine it may be a new source on some interesting wine - I did buy a mixed case last night such is my confidence!' Our Wine Shop features a comprehensive range of wines, individually selected by Atilio Falco & his team, for beginners to connoisseurs. We aim to provide excellent service in terms of advice and guidance, always in the unique Troubadour style, (ie NO snobbery but a friendly and practical approach).

Wine Tasting Evenings

Due to the continued success of our wine tastings and subsequent demand for more, we will be scheduling more tastings on a regular basis in The Troubadour Gallery.

Atilio Falco, our Director of Wine, or his assistant, Dominic Edwards, will take you on a relaxed and informal journey of wine discovery with plenty of amusing anecdotes along the way. There will be no pomp or snobbery - you'll come away with practial knowledge and lots of tips for appreciating and understanding wine.
Over the evenings, we taste and discuss a substantial selection of wines (we recommend your don't drive home!) and, very importantly, we have fun. The wines are chosen following extensive research and are of a superior quality. Delicious nibbles are also provided.

If you have any interest in wine, whatever your level of knowledge you'll find these evenings entertaining and informative. Please contact us wines@troubadour.co.uk if you would like to know about future tastings.

Atilio has "travelled" around the world looking for delicious, good value for money products. The range includes wines from France, Italy, Argentina, Australia, Chile, New Zealand, Austria, South-Africa, Germany, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Lebanon, etc. A substantial number of our wines are imported directly from the producers and therefore are not available anywhere else in England!

Champagne Abele henri-abele-logo

We are very happy to inform you that Troubadour Wines is the exclusive agent of Champagne Abele, the last "Grand Marque" (Great House) of Champagne to be represented in Britain. We also have some other prestigious names being offered for the first time on the London market as a result of buying directly from wine producers and other privileged contacts.

The range of Champagnes from Abele include a Brut NV (non vintage), Rose NV, Soirees Parisiennes Vintage, Blanc de Blancs Vintage, Sourrire de Reims vintage (top cuvee), Sourrire de Reims Rose Cru de Riceys (top cuvee) and several other vintages.

And, for the playful, Abele produces large formats and is the only house of Champagne that does the second fermentation inside the large format bottle (instead of just filling them with ready made champagne as the others do).

The name "Sourrire de Reims" refers to the only angel in European art depicted smiling. It can be found at the entrance of the magnificent cathedral of Reims. Les Soirees Parisiennes was created for the famous Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris and served at the Royal Palaces of Belguim, Germany and Spain at the beginning of the 20th century.

We are the still Troubadour you know! “What about prices?” – I hear you ask. Don’t worry we offer wines from the affordable everyday drinking tipple to the sumptuous and refined for those exceptional moments. But, be aware of this, there are, as there always have been, good wines at EVERY level of price. Therefore, there is no excuse in today’s market for a bad wine. We believe our range follows these criteria. Please come and check it out. I am delighted to say that we have taken some risks too! There are a number of discoveries in our range waiting to be tasted.

When you come, please let us introduce you to The Wine Bar, a calm alternative to the fast pace of the Café or the Club next door, a place of solace to enjoy a conversation with friends, good music and a nice glass or bottle of wine. This space is also available to hire for a private party - please call Dorota to find more details!

Please do subscribe to our monthly newsletter so that we can keep you up to date with events here and wine tastings that are sure to tempt you! Please email dorota@troubadour.co.uk to subscribe.
